The Second Sunday in Lent

Adult Forum: Benedictine Monasticism and its Influence ~ Monasteries established cells of Christian life throughout Europe that contributed to the agricultural economy and served as examples of Augustine’s “city of God.”  Here we will look in particular at Benedictine monasticism, highlighting the key role it played in shaping medieval Christianity in the West. Join us in Saint Mary’s Chapel following the 8:00 a.m. service as we follow the story beyond the Sunday school teachings of your childhood.

Christian Education for All Ages: Saint John’s offers Christian Education for children and adults on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. Classes for children ages 4 through high school meet in the classrooms above Trimble Hall.  New participants are always welcome.  Adults gather in Saint Mary's chapel at 9 a.m., for a thought-provoking discussion of topics relevant to understanding our faith.

Organ Recital today presented by Russell Weismann from Washington DC, 3:00 p.m., Van Looy Organ Recital Series, Thomson Chapel, Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA. $7 admission.

Prayer Forum: "Knock and the door will be opened; seek and ye shall find....."  On Saturday, March 21 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in Saint Mary's Chapel, there will be an informal gathering for anyone interested in discussing the subject of PRAYER  --  an important part of our Lenten season. Bring your Bible and a bag lunch/snack. For details contact Mary Lou Brooks at (301)714-2339 or at marybrooks949@gmail.com. Church Flowers Update:  With the closing of Ben's Flower Shop it became necessary to find another florist.  This was not necessarily an easy task after doing business with Ben's for over forty years.  However, we are pleased to announce that weekly flowers will be provided by Gibney's Florist and Christmas and Easter by Wilde Rose Boutique Wedding and Event Florals.  Both businesses are pleased to do business with us.  There will be no difference in operation and/or procedure. Thanks,  Joyce and Deanna

Good Friday Offering: Since 1922 The Episcopal Church has supported the ministry of the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East.  As we journey through Lent, I ask you to consider being part of this church wide offering. Donations should be made to Saint John’s and marked Good Friday offering.  Collected funds will be send after Easter.
