Twenty Second Sunday after Pentecost

The Reverend Elaine Prince will once again be our Celebrant and Preacher for today’s services.   Please make her feel welcomed.

Halloween Spooktacular Concert will be held this Friday, October 21, 7:30 p.m. at the Mercersburg Academy Chapel. Sponsored by the Cumberland Valley and Chambersburg Chapters of the American Guild of Organists, the performers will include area musicians including Mark King. Our boy and girl choristers will be attending the concert.  The event is free and open to the public. Dress in Halloween costumes is optional. 

Halloween Party!  On Friday, October 28th from 7 to 9 pm the St. John’s Youth Group will be hosting a parish Halloween party. We especially invite the younger children (and the young at heart adults) to be present for games, activities, goodies, and fellowship.  Contact Margaret Clinch youthmin.stjohns@myactv.net for more information or to let the youth group know you’re coming!

Save the date for Basket Bingo! The Service and Outreach Commission will be holding a Basket Bingo event on November 4, 6:30 PM.  Twenty five dollars ($25) will get you a delicious lasagna dinner and ten games of Bingo with a chance to win one of 10 baskets valued at $25. Tickets will be sold each Sunday after both services. Be Sweet to Your New Rector:  Sweets and savory snacks are needed for Sunday, November 6th as we celebrate and meet our new Rector and family following the 10:15 a.m. service.

Van Driver Opportunity:  We have two openings for individuals on our rotation list of van drivers. Our van drivers provide  a service to those who need transportation to and from Sunday services.  Please contact Bob Speelman at 540-247-2482 or rwspeelman@mail.com, if you would like to become a part of this vital outreach service.

Gift Cards: The Service and Outreach Commission will be selling gift cards for Martins and Weis Grocery Markets after the 8:00 AM and 10:15 services each Sunday at the Antietam Street entrance.   The commission will receive 5% from the sales of the gift certificates.  These proceeds will be used to sponsor mission projects.    You can help Service and Outreach obtain its goals by purchasing gift cards to be used at all Martin/Weis locations.   Thank you for your patronage!
