Twenty Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

We would like to thank The Reverend Elaine Prince for being part of our liturgy and faith community during the past three months.

Themed Basket Bingo: Friday Evening, November 4, 6:30 PM. Hurry!  Hurry! Don't miss the opportunity for a nice fall evening of Basket Bingo in Trimble Hall. A $25 Ticket will get you a lasagna dinner and dessert and the opportunity to play at least 12 games of Bingo.   Winners can choose between baskets that have values from $25 up to $100.  Tickets are selling quickly, so don't miss out.  Tickets may be purchased at the Antietam Street Entrance after each service or by contacting Cathy Bushey at 301-992-8444.

Name Tags: All are asked to wear name tags beginning next week to assist Father Todd and Joelene in making their transition as easy as possible.  Printed name tags will be available at the back of the church.  Everyone is asked to either return their name tag to the back of the church or be responsible in wearing them each Sunday. If you do not find a tag with your name, blank ones will be available.

Choral Evensong for the Sunday after All Saints’ Day: November 6 at 5:00 p.m.  Officiant will be our new rector, Rev. Todd Young. Choral music by Healey Willan, Richard DeLong and Robert Knox Kennedy; flute/organ music by Gerald Near, George Frideric Händel and Gaston Bélier.  Reception in Trimble Hall will follow Evensong, coordinated by Bruce Massey.

2017 Stewardship Campaign: Everyone whose name is on our records should have received a letter, pledge card showing your expected 2017 giving of time, talents and treasury, proportional giving chart and envelope for return of your card.  For those whom the U.S. mail failed to reach or who have misplaced any of this correspondence, extras are located on the table at the Antietam Street entrance.  Also with this material is a form for automatic, periodic e-giving. Remember Ingathering Sunday, November 20th.

Be Sweet to Your New Rector:  Sweets and savory snacks are needed for Sunday, November 6th as we celebrate and meet our new Rector and family following the 10:15 a.m. service.

Are you Entertaining for Thanksgiving?  Let Service and Outreach Commission help you with a variety of homemade pies.  Choices are between pumpkin, apple, apple-cranberry, mincemeat, sweet potato.  Thank you for supporting our outreach projects!

Community Café : It's that time of year again and we are making plans for the holiday meals. In November the date for the Café is the Saturday after Thanksgiving and meat loaf is on the menu. This is one of the favorite meals so we are confident that all of our regular diners will be there.  In December the Café is scheduled for Christmas Eve. Not the ideal time for any of us. We changed the week last year and it didn't work so this year we are trying something different. We are inviting our guests to stop in for coffee and doughnuts and to pick up a Christmas package. The packages will contain some food and a few personal hygiene and household items. The children attending Children's Chapel are making ornaments for us to include in the package to make them special.  We want to try to provide similar packages for each diner. The Café is purchasing small canned hams from the Maryland Food Bank at a discounted price and would also like to include food items to provide a complete meal. Wondering how you can help? Here are some ideas:

The Sunday food donations during November and December will help us to fill

the packages.  We will need - Canned corn, green beans, yams, instant mashed

                                                     potatoes
Full sized tubes of toothpaste, bar soap, toilet paper

                                                    dish liquid

To help fill the holiday bags and maybe tie a bow on the handles, bring in a dozen

doughnuts or a breakfast pastry on Christmas Eve, or if you would like to come in

and sing or lead Christmas Carols please contact Susan Rauth 301-665-9394

     or srauth1021@gmail.com

And of course if you would like to make a financial donation that is always useful and appreciated
