Housing through Food for the Poor: Food for the Poor builds houses for those in extreme poverty in Central America and the Caribbean at the rate of $3600 for a single-unit house with sanitation and $7200 for a double-unit house with sanitation and water. An anonymous donor has made a very generous offer and challenge: They will cover the difference of a single-unit house, or, if the full $3600 is reached, match those funds for a double-unit house. If you would like to be a part of funding a FftP house through Saint John's, please either send a check to the office, or put one in the offering plate, and memo it “FftP House.” Donations will be accepted through August 26, 2018.
Taste of the Town: The annual Taste of the Town which benefits REACH will be held on Sunday, September 23 at 5 PM. The cost is $45/person or $450/table. If you are interested in attending, dining with fellow parishioners and representing Saint John's at a table, please contact Bruce Massey at 240-675-4498 no later than 8-7 to reserve a seat. If we have sufficient interest, we will reserve a table. Thank you!
Bester School: The Community Block Party to support Bester School children will be held on September 22nd. We've been asked to collect both children's and adult's clothing. A box for each has been placed in the Parish Hall.
Would You Like to Usher: Saint John’s is looking for two or three people who would be willing to be on an usher team. If interested see Mike Mummert or contact him at email@example.com.
