Adult Forum: 9:00 a.m. in Saint Mary’s Chapel. Solomon becomes an ideal, and quite typical, Near Eastern King; thus he fulfills both the pro and anti monarchical views expressed by Samuel. Solomon solidifies David’s political basis and geographical holdings, builds the Jerusalem Temple, establishes enormous treasury reserves and develops a positive international reputation as witnessed by the Queen of Sheba’s embassy. Next week, The Prophets and the Fall of the North!
VBS Planning Meeting: We will be having a second planning session for Vacation Bible School on Sunday, June 3rd after the 10:15 service in Saint Mary’s Chapel. If you have some opinions about how VBS should operate, or are curious about what is involved in this ministry of the church, please come and be part of the discussion.
Organ Recital: Presented by Mark King on Friday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. as part of our Music at Saint John’s Series. The diverse program will feature a variety of repertoire. Two special components of the recital include music for the Trompette en Chamade, and from the Broadway musical West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein, in honor of his birth in 1918.
Would You Like to Usher: Saint John’s is looking for two or three people who would be willing to be on an usher team. If interested see Mike Mummert or contact him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Personal Blessings: We need your help to increase our inventory of Personal Blessings items. A part of our ministry for the Community Cafe’ is providing personal hygiene products for our guests. When we first started this Outreach we thought travel size items would be best, but over the years we now realize the need is for full-size. This helps them last month to month. We could use the following items: Toothpaste-4 oz or larger; Toothbrush - adult and children; Shampoo-18 oz; Durable disposable razors; Shaving cream - 6-12 oz; Bath soap-3 oz bars. The Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Walmart are suggested shopping places. Perhaps you would prefer not to shop and would like to make a monetary contribution. If giving a check, please write “Personal Blessings” in the memo section. For cash donations place your money in an envelope marked “Personal Blessing”. Please contact Cathy Bushey if you have further questions at 301-992-8444. Any help you can give will be appreciated by those attending our monthly Community Cafe’.
Bester School Needs: Bester School continues to need our help in providing underwear for its young children. The school greatly appreciates all that we've donated in the past and all that we can do now and in the future. Sizes needed are 4, 6, and 8 for both boys and girls. Please contact Lou Lamb at church or call her at 301-437-5704. Thank you.
