The Day of Pentecost

You are invited: Sunday, in Saint Mary’s Chapel immediately following the 8 a.m. service, the Adult Forum will continue following Academy Award winner, Morgan Freeman, as he explores “The Story of God!”  This compelling series looks at “What happens When We Die?”, “The End of Days,” “Who is God?”, “The Creation Story”, and more.  Don’t let this opportunity pass you by – challenging topics; good conversations.  We’ll save you a seat.

Our 12th annual Mayfest will be held on Friday, May 20th beginning at 6:30.  The theme for this year's event will be a “Mayfest Preakness Party” with a wine tasting hour featuring Maryland wineries and dinner highlighting Maryland cuisine. "Please note that all Mayfest wine sales must be paid for by debit or credit card."

Mayfest has historically been our largest outreach fundraising event for the past several years.  Beneficiaries of this year's event will be the Community Free Clinic, Family Services Center, and St. Etienne's in Haiti. Funds will be raised through ticket sales, raffles and sponsorships.

Tickets and raffle chances are being sold at the Antietam Street entrance following both services.  Please plan on joining us for an evening of fun, fellowship and fundraising!  Clubhouse chic attire is encouraged.

If you are interested in volunteering to help with Mayfest, please contact Sareen or Kevin Hebb at 301-766-0834 or sareen@myactv.net.

The Rector Search Committee Update:  The rector search committee has completed the initial round of video interviews with several candidates, with additional video interviews scheduled for early May. There is sufficient interest by our committee in several of the candidates who had very strong video interviews, so the next step is to begin scheduling site visits. At this point, we will be visiting some of these possible candidates at their home churches. (Some will require flying and overnight accommodations while others will be possible to drive for a day visit.) Different members of the search committee will travel to visit the potential candidates, attend services led by them, and spend time meeting with the candidates for a formal 'second interview.' Additionally, the committee members will incorporate a visit with the Senior Warden of each church's Vestry, as well as a few other members of the congregation as we strive to get the best and most complete picture of the candidates. These site visits will be completed by the end of the month, and the committee will meet in early June to share recommendations on who may move on to the next stage.

We thank you for your continued prayers for our committee members, but also for the candidates with whom we will be personally interviewing. This process requires mutual discernment, and your spiritual support is very much appreciated!

Gift Cards: The Service and Outreach Commission will be selling gift cards for Martins and Weis Grocery Markets after the 8:00 AM and 10:15 services each Sunday at the Antietam Street entrance.   The commission will receive 5% from the sales of the gift certificates.  These proceeds will be used to sponsor mission projects.    You can help Service and Outreach obtain its goals by purchasing gift cards to be used at all Martin/Weis locations.   Thank you for your patronage!
